Uniswap's governance proposal accepted

After a week of voting, the Uniswap community endorsed a proposal to implement a series of changes in its governance process, with nearly 100% approval. Perhaps the biggest change in the Uniswap governance process will be removing the first off-chain Snapshot poll through which all governance proposals go, and replacing it with a “Request to Comment” – a phase of the governance process that would allow the community to digest, comment, and question new proposals.

Furthermore, Uniswap will change the quorum for Snapshot polls, rising it from 50,000 to 10 million UNI tokens, in hopes of gauging community sentiment prior to the actual governance vote.

The proposal, created by Uniswap Foundation members in November, was altered following community discussion before it was set for voting which may be the reason for its surprisingly high approval rate – out of approximately 61 million delegated UNI tokens, only 193 were against it.

According to Devin Walsh, Uniswap Foundation’s director and author of the governance changes proposal, requiring the community to vote twice is redundant and unnecessary. Moreover, following the launch of the Uniswap DAO in August, the project has been working on empowering community members to participate in it.
